Alright, I'm going to come out and admit this to the world, not that anyone who dosen't already know me will ever read this. I am a technophobe. A luddite. I want to enjoy and take advantage of all the great things advanced technology offers, but it escapes me sometimes. I think it all started back in junior high school when I tried to take a programming class and while I got through it, but it wasn't easy and that was a Basic course. Please understand that I'm talking about the programming language and not the level of knowledge required for the class. C, C++, Fortran...I could go on, but why bother. It's kind of like electricity to me you turn on the switch and it works. If it dosen't I probably can't fix it. Unless you can count ctrl. alt. del. as a fix or sometimes I just unplug things. If that dosen't work, I'm out. It's not that I'm not handy, I just don't get computers, PDA's, programmable calculators, phones that do too much stuff, iPods, digital cameras etc... I'm the guy whose VCR was blinking 12:00 til the day I got my laserdisc player and it blinked 12:00 til I got a DVD player.
Now, none of this means I don't love all these cool gadgets. I'm a consumer's consumer. Got digital TV's, DVD players, iPods, PS2, Xbox, Wii, multiple computers Macs and PC, cool digital camera, digital camcorder and going to go HD-DVD soon. I just don't feel like I'm getting the most out of any of these things. That's really what this is all about. I'm going to try to keep up this blog and learn how to do some "internetty" stuff at the same time. I'll write about things I like and don't like, things I think are funny and not funny. Movies, music, games, books, magazines, art, family and friends.
You are all, I mean all two or three of you who may stumble on this, more than welcome to come along for the ride. It will probably be boring and I'll make more than a few mistakes but in the end I hope it will be worth it.
